Help connect Maya womxn in LA and Guatemala
Together we can weave relationships between Maya womxn
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
Join me in supporting young Maya Womxn in LA.
During the Spring of 2018, I was part of Las Fotos Project's Maya Womxn in LA exhibit - a photographic exhibit that documented the experience of Maya Womxn in Los Angeles. Over the span of 12 weeks, 6 Guatemalan teen girls met to learn about the history of Guatemala, explore their personal identity, and make portraits of Maya girls and womxn, ranging in ages of 4-years-old to 96-years-old.
This spring, we would like to share these stories with Maya womxn and girls in Guatemala. For many of the girls, this is their first time traveling to their homeland. We would also like to build relationships there while learning and documenting Maya communities in Guatemala fighting to defend their life and land.
I absolutely love the powerful work these girls and their (fem)tors are up to! As a Maya womxn, this project reaffirmed my experience as an indigenous womxn and daughter of migrants living in the U.S. I wish there were opportunities like these when I was younger, so I want to support programs like this that provide a nurturing and empowering community for young Maya womxn.
Your donation will help us get there! We greatly appreciate any and all donations AND please share this fundraiser page with your networks!
