Las Fotos Project, celebrating an Age of Change

Las Fotos Project is a non-profit community-based photography organization whose mission is to bring about positive change for girls living in working-class communities across Los Angeles. Through one-on-one mentoring and innovative photography programming, Las Fotos Project guides girls through a journey of self-awareness, community building, and creativity.

Since its founding in 2010, Las Fotos Project has established 180 community partnerships, provided 60,000+ hours of free arts programming serving more than 1,380 young women and girls thanks to over 450 local artists who have mentored for more than 22,000 hours.

In celebration of our 10th anniversary, we are strengthening our mission to elevate the voices of teenage girls from communities of color. We will continue to provide our students with a supportive network of creative professionals while also looking to our students for their wisdom as we move through the next 10 years of uplifting women in the arts through photography by:

  • Honoring the talent and creativity of our teenage photographers as high caliber artists.
  • We will validate their experience as community photojournalists, documentarians and change makers through visual storytelling.
  • We will be advocates for economic justice and gender equity in the creative economy by creating direct pathways for students to earn a living and equitable wage while receiving mentorship and training.
  • We will continue to have the stories, power and creativity of teenage girls at the center of everything we do.

Your contribution goes directly to helping keep our photography mentoring programs thriving. Thank you for being a supporter, friend and ally in this Age of Change.
